tlc does it again!

I envy these ladies. I wish I were more coupon-savvy. Needless to say, I'm yet again addicted to TLC. Hopefully this one will be a little less frightening then Sister Wives. Oh, those polygamists..

night stands..

You'll remember I found this at Canton and made it into my night stand - advice from mom, It could be a dresser in your nursery! - alright :)

The dilemma - how will I ever find something to match?? Then came an idea, one so ahead of it's time... just paint it! why does paint make everything look better? newer? fresher?

So here is a little Before and After fun!

Before. Blake's old college nightstand.

I took the drawer of my new Canton dresser to Home Depot - after a very quick interaction with the paint guy (he did NOT want to be there and had no interest in any of my inquisitive questions.. oh well..) and a "beep beep" under their fancy paint computer, I went home with a pint of the same yellow that was used on my night stand!

During. A little DIY in Mullin.

sanding and painting

And, an After!

Now we have coordinating night stands in a delightful throw back yellow that makes our master one stride closer to the finish line! Let's take a closer look at those knobs - my favorite part.

the Canton dresser. I don't know if they're new or were original with the piece, but I drool over them, kinda what sold me on it..

Blake's old-new night stand with repurposed Anthropologie knobs!

We upgraded the knobs on the television stand to darling little turtles - so we had these left over! They work for me... same color - same vintage feel and they both have a round-ish shape.

Overall, I love our new night stands and I smile each time I pass them on the way to the bathroom. What could be happier than yellow?

the EPI app

For all those aspiring great wives.. specifically the great wives that are learning how to love cooking! I love this i-phone app! It's the Epicurious app, it's free and it's just fun to mess with! You can search through tons of recipes - narrow down by type of food - your main ingredient - your style - your difficulty and other such categories.. then..

best of all..

it will compile a grocery list for you! yea baby!

we're having a little family dinner with all our friends on Thursday and tonight I'm braving Tom Thumb.. This meal is going to be crazy - I hope I'm not being too adventurous.. It may slim down when I hit the store - I love cooking, but hate grocery shopping..

Jalapeno and goat cheese hush puppies

Pork Chops with cranberry, port and rosemary sauce

sweet potato fries

and I still need a veg...

I'll try to put up pictures of my delicious meal/disaster.. and I can finally wear my Anthro apron - woo!

Canton finds..

some old books! Blake hates when I decorate with these. He dislikes the busyness of it all - thus hates stacks of vintage hardbacks. It's just so very Pottery Barn to me - thus, I love! We have differing definitions of busyness (I don't mind clutter, as long as it's controlled clutter) good thing, in the end, I get to make the decor decisions!

next - some old school stamps which I had to do some under the table dealing with to make sure they came home with me :) Most of them are from the Netherlands - so fun! I'm not sure what's going to happen here - but I'm sensing a craft coming along!

then, a candle holder turned desk organizer. Idea stolen from my very artistic friend Kate Newman, yes, as in Katelovephoto... thanks Kate!

and then, a shabby 'ol basket of sorts.. Either hung in bathroom or attaching some hooks to and using on our balcony as a plant holder.. haven't quite decided yet!

aaaaand then, one bed-side table in a very 50s yellow! The handles are what sold me (please don't judge the surrounding areas of this picture.. I still have some staging/bed making to do)

the grand finale - not really, this just uploaded last.. but our re-purposed ceiling tiles! hey, they look like our ledge! They're very very rusty - projects in Mullin this weekend - figure out how to make them not so gross without taking away the cool distressed look. I'll upload a close up picture for all the detail viewing later - maybe I'll light the candles for some romance too.

yes, Blake is still asleep in this picture - precious! my mom wanted to see pictures of the Canton finds early the next morning!

Canton ladies and gents - it's like a huge Garage Sale (for those who don't know) held in Canton, Texas on the first weekend of every month! Go and enjoy some fried carnival food, much needed girl time, shopping and, my favorite.. haggling!

Romans 5:19

For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

talked about this last night in the Village's Women's Bible Study - we're studying Genesis. This is just what Romans is referring to. Adam - disobedience of the one man v. Christ - obedience of the one man.

how crazy, yet wonderful...

It still boggles my mind that we are, that I am, considered righteous by the Lord God. I can say the words, but I still don't think I'll ever understand what that really means..
